The Fowey to Mevagissey passenger ferry runs daily between Fowey and Mevagissey from May through September, weather and sea conditions permitting.
The 35 min. trip offers a great day out, both locations being ideal for a day's shopping, exploring and/or walking. Details of Ferry fares and timetables are available at local Tourist Information Centres or at Fowey to Mevagissey passenger ferry website
Visitors staying in Mevagissey will enjoy the sailing town of Fowey with its literary connections - Daphne du Maurier lived here for many years, as did Quiller Couch. The Fowey River inspired Kenneth Graham in his writing of The Wind in the Willows. Enjoy the many walks around the Fowey river, included the guided town and literary walks available via Fowey TIC
For visitors to Fowey, the Mevagissey / Fowey ferry provides an ideal means of reaching the Lost Gardens of Heligan (a pleasant 45 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride from Mevagissey). The largest garden restoration project in Europe, this garden continues to amaze as more and more is revealed. The working fishing village of Mevagissey is most interesting. You will surely enjoy the Mevagissey Museum - a local heritage Museum full of information and artefacts of a bygone age from the village's history. And of course, there is the World of Model Railways at the centre of the village - a fascinating, computer controlled railways system set in superb model scenery. Details of Ferry fares and timetables are available at local Tourist Information Centres or at Fowey to Mevagissey passenger ferry website |
