St Austell's Produce Market is now held every Saturday in Aylmer Square in White River Place.
We're also encouraging a Friday market - Richard's of Par are bringing in a great range of Fresh Fish & Shellfish for Fridays plus their superb greengrocery display on both market days.
Market opening times are from 9.30am to 3.30pm
If you're worried about Food Miles - how far your food's travelled, often by jet plane, to reach you. How about roughly 2 miles, 4 miles and 5 miles - and that's just the meat on sale!!
With the move into White River Place, we'll shortly be arranging for some more local Chefs to bring the best of local Cornish produce, demonstrate their culinary skills and encourage you to 'eat local'!
We're very grateful to highly acclaimed chef,Jonathan Domé, who provided a tremendous cookery demonstration earlier this year. Jonathan brought along fresh pigeons, fresh rabbits and venison - offering a chance for many to try something that they'd not experienced before. Rabbits offer a source of plentiful, free-range, organic lean meat at a very good price!

Jonathan, currently head chef at Hustyns nr Wadebridge, has worked for the Roux Brothers at Roux Fine Dining in London, so he comes with a huge amount of experience.
These popular cookery demonstrations are always fun and informative, especially as the chefs are very keen for the audience of shoppers to eat everything that they have produced!
A recent survey of the local residents showed that a Produce Market was one of the most requested events missing from St Austell's town centre.
With support from St Austell Town Council and St Austell Market House CIC, the Produce Market was first set up in October 2009.
It was opened by TV personality & environmental campaigner, Dick Strawbridge and St Austell's Mayor, Brian Palmer.

Dick is well known from his programme; "It's Not Easy Being Green" and lives only a few miles from St Austell so a very 'green' low number of 'celebrity miles' were involved for his visit!
Opening day was made more colourful by a visit from a group of Massai Warrior dancers who encouraged Dick and the Mayor to join in the dances . . . . . . . . !
